Beef Stroganoff Recipe with Sour Cream – Low-Carb Keto Meal

Keto Beef Stroganoff

This beef stroganoff recipe is one of my absolute favorite Keto recipes. It’s creamy, delicious and very filling.

It’s also a perfect winter dish, especially in those cold days when you want to eat something warm and soupy.

There’s no better dish then beef stroganoff. I promise you.

But What Exactly Is Beef Stroganoff?

Beef stroganoff is a Russian sautéed beef dish in savory sour cream sauce.

While there are many ways to make this dish, this easy beef stroganoff recipe is made for a low-carb Keto diet.

It’s high in fat, moderate in protein, and low in carbs.

But that’s not all you love about this recipe. It’s mess-free, easy, and convenient.

It’s a one-pot meal with a cooking time of 30 minutes and its ingredient list is very minimal.

I also love that there are no unfamiliar ingredients you often see in keto recipes and foreign dishes.

Delicious comfort meal with least bit of hassle is very much my kind of recipe. And nothing fits the bill better than this beef stroganoff keto recipe.

Since the stroganoff sauce is very rich and thick, it goes really well with cauliflower rice. Zucchini noodles would also make a good pair.

If you are ready, let’s get started.

  1. I made this recipe yesterday, and let me just tell you, this is one of the most delicious things i’ve ever eaten in my life. Consistency is just right, I seasoned it with some Herbamare (herb salt) instead of just normal salt and used a little more garlic, and this was just blow-your-socks-off amazing! Not only boyfriend-approved, but even in-laws approved! Really fantastic recipe, and easy to follow too! Thanks!

The recipe is so easy and can totally accommodate little twists here and there to make them just the way you like it.
I hope you try other recipes too!

  2. We just had your beef stroganoff for dinner. It was the easiest quickest stroganoff i have ever made. Forget it being a winter meal, i am in Australia. It is 44C ( 111 F) today but this was a quick meal to saute up and serve with a garden salad. Absolutely delicious. Thankyou

  4. I made this tonight for dinner and it was absolutely amazing!! It tasted like something you would get a Biaggi‘s restaurant ❤️ I will definitely be making it again!!

  5. This was exceptional. I used London Broil because it was on sale and simmered it a little longer to make it tender. I cooked up some cabbage “noodles” and it paired beautifully. My husband, who’s a trucker, will definitely love this. He’s getting bored with just grilled meats. This is one I’ll freeze and send with him on the road. Well done!

  6. This looks great but could you tell me an avocado oil substitute? I’m more low carb than keto.
    thanks!

  7. Do you serve this over noodles? Want to yry this wo my hubs knowing so that he can loose some weight too!!

  8. Made this for dinner tonight with cauliflower rice and fresh green beans. Definitely a keeper. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  9. I made this tonight using a Certified Angus Beef coulotte. It tasted fantastic, but mine suits bit thicken, even though I cooked or longer. I did double the recipe though, so maybe that was the problem. I served egg noodle and zoodles on the side and both worked well with our.

    1. Hi Shawna,

I’m so sorry to hear that.
I’m not sure where it went wrong, but when all things fail, one way to naturally reduce is to simmer without a lid.
Nevertheless, the combination of sour cream and heavy cream should’ve made it creamy. I’m sorry it didn’t work.

      Thanks,
      Tina

  10. This was amazing! I tweaked a tiny bit and idea sherry to deglaze the Pan after cooking the mushrooms and onions. Served it over cauliflower. Delish!!!!!

  11. I read some comments on here about it being watery and not thickening. So I decided to try it for myself. It is very true, there is no way this is thickening after only 15 minutes of simmering. I definitely followed to a T. Made sure all juices were drained from browning the beef as well. I am not an amateur at cooking either. It has currently been simmering for close to 30 min and is just now starting to thicken with a creamy consistency. My advice to those of you making this going forward, I would give it a 40 min simmer. You will like it much better than the water downed version. However, thus far the flavor is delicious 🙂 Thank you.

  12. Made this for a crowd…tripled the recipe…taste was delicious, served with cauliflower mash.
I had to add some Xanthan Gum to thicken it a bit. Very good

    1. Dee,

I’m so happy to hear the beef stroganoff recipe worked!
I have to say, pairing it with cauliflower mash is my favorite way to enjoy this recipe too.

Thanks for the tip on the Xanthan Gum too. I’ll have to try that myself.

      Cheers,
      Tina

  13. Husband started on keto diet so we tried this new recipe, it is a winner! Kids ages 7, 5, & 2 all cleared their plates which is near miracle in our home. It was a little thin so we used bowels and to get the last drop they had bottoms up on the bowels! Kids used noodles and hubby cauliflower rice, it is a keeper and family friendly!

  14. What does the sour cream do for the recipe? I want to make it but my husband and sour cream do not agree with each other. If I left it out would it make a big difference?
